Excerpted from an interview of Patrick McMullan by Glenn O’Brien in a supplement to the February 2009 issue of “Interview” magazine:
GO: What have you learned as a photographer?
PM: You always have to be upbeat. People don’t want a sourpuss.
GO: So what’s the secret of a good snapshot?
PM: It’s got to have that double-take quality, where you have to look twice to say, “Whoa, what’s going on there?”
