yes…the fist…
Sunday, May 13th, 2007I don’t think I have ever been so tired as I am now…A three show run…very little sleep, but so much fun…
Thursday – CWA Pro Wrestling in Columbia, SC at the Jamil Temple. Left at 4pm from Spartanburg. Got to shoot Jake Roberts for the first time. Sadly this wasn’t the Jake from the good old days (which I wasn’t expecting) but Jake from “Beyond the Mat”. Also, his snake shit in the ring. What a smell. Got to speak to Susan Greene again also. Stopped at some stinking Hooters off I26 to eat. I ordered the soup of the day (tater every day), and I got some reheated pre-fab glop in a bowl that was barely room temperature. Absolute rubbish. Got home in time to get about 2 1/2 hours of sleep before I had to get up at 6am for work.
Friday – Left work at 4pm to head to UWF in Mooresville. First time shoots: Gail Kim, Chris Harris and Jackie Moore. Team Macktion and Corino/CW Anderson was great. It’s nice to see Kriby get his ass kicked every once in awhile. ER got to do commentary – congrats. Afterwards, we ate at…where else? Stinking Hooters. I had the 1/2 crab legs – I say half because I must have gotten the weakest crab in the sea as there was not much meat in him. Got home at 2.30am? Slept for about six hours.
Saturday – Left a little after 2pm to head to Greensboro. Straight shot on I40. Checked in with ER/Macktion and they were eating at…Crappy Hooters. Got to meet Sgt. Slaughter at the show. ER looked like he was dragging. Show was over a little past 10pm and I hit the road. Got into bed about 1.30am, back up today at 6am. I understand that they were eating after the show at…where else? Poopy Hooters.
Next show will be NWA Anarchy on the 19th. A rough total of about 700 pictures from the past three days.
“so tell me about what goes on back here…”
Sunday, May 6th, 2007Check out the new “Mid-Atlantic Heritage Championship” on the Gateway. This will be a special part of the June 2nd “Carolina Wrestling Classic” show in Hickory,NC.
Went to CWA (Christian Wrestling Alliance) in Orangeburg,SC last night. Thanks to Roger Gleaton for allowing to come and shoot the show. Got to shoot Tommy Rich and Scotty Riggs for the first time.
CWA announcer/play-by-play man, Jason Willis said something last night that I have never heard my other announcer friend say: “I’m just a humble announcer.”
Mr Gleaton threw out some CWA t-shirts before the show…it always amazes me to watch adults who will fight children for a free shirt…most of the time you will see them grab them in the air and then either give it to their kids or someone else’s. Two guys sitting behind me gave theirs to a kid whose father had him standing on the railing. On the other side though, big grabs in the air with three kids running around him trying to get it as it plummets.
There was over 200 people at the show. The video work at CWS is spectacular…all the wrestlers/talent had entrance videos. Very crisp work. The programs were also nicely done. It had the entire card for the night, ticket info – even concession stand prices.
Baby Doll is now their new General Manager and made three different appearances during the show, each time in a different outfit…nice.
Kirby & TJ had a great match against Malachi & Josh Magnum. Magnum is a Batman fan and even had a mini-Robin come to the ring with him.
Overall a good trip, I’m glad I went. Next week is UWF in Mooresville and Greensboro,NC.
