Ok, so I’m sitting at work. In case you’re concerned, I did make it on time this morning. I got in at 12.30 this morning, and was in bed a little after 1.
I left the house at 3.15. Stopped in Lenoir and picked up Mike McCloud. Got to the Mooresville NGA about 5.30.
The “U” was burned out on the sign, so it says “WAFFLE HO SE” at the exit.
Thank you DickBourne for the cap! I met Brad Smith who works for Logo’d Gear and ref’d the first few matches. He had brought a very nice embroidered cap with the EWA logo. Dick graciously gave it to me as he doesn’t wear caps.
Once again ran into Mike Cline. He was not swinging a mask over his head this night, instead he was hoarding all the title belts at ringside.
The Mid Atlantic Gateway Collection has added two new belts. Replicas of the NWA World Tag Team belts from 1975 – 1980. They are on the front page of the Gateway. Very nice looking belts, and they were made from the original plans of Reggie Parks. I believe they will be awarded to the winning tag team at the next Anderson Brothers Classic show. I will have some shots I took of the belts up in the next few days.
Brad Anderson, son of Gene attended the show. He brought a unique piece of MACW history for the M.A.G. Collection. A key holder with the MACW logo in the center. It was still in the original presentation box. Also, a picture will be up soon. Brad mentioned that he has been talking to Ole’s son Brian Anderson in the hopes of them teaming at the next Anderson Bros. show.
Bill Eadie was able to raise a nice amount of money from the Ebay auction. The money will go to benefit the facility he works at in Georgia.
Again, a very cool time just sitting around in the back listening to Eadie, George South, Bobby Eaton, Ricky Morton and Tommy Young tell stories about wrestling.
Tommy has still got it in the ring. We even got to see the baseball slide.
I have been breaking out the Airborne again. I take this right before a show, just to give myself a little “health boost” before wading into the sea of hands and close conversations. This night, Dick and Ricky joined me in dropping in and fizzing out. Good times.
There was a film crew there doing interviews and filming parts of the show. I had heard what this was about, but I have forgotten. It’s part of a documentary.
The show Ethan Cage & Bobby Houston teaming against Jake Manning & Jimmy Jack Funk, Jr. Tensions were still high between the former “Queen City Kings” – Houston and Manning. I think it all started when they lost the AWA Southern Tag belts back in September, then Manning’s loss to Houston Friday night in Statesville.
The main event was bloody! The previously mentioned Superstar auction included a mask. When Eadie got to the back, he signed the one he wore – bloodstains included for the lucky winner.
I’m sure I will be on here again before Thanksgiving, but just in case I am not – I hope you all have a wonderful holiday. I’ve had a great year and have plenty to be thankful for.
Anarchy pictures are still in progress. The Starrcage photos may not be up until late Thursday.
